PhD Symposium Bratislava - 2020

Digital Education for the Future

The PhD Symposium Bratislava - 2020 will be held on June 4-5, 2020 within the framework of the International Conference «Electronic Kazan on the Danube - 2020» in cooperation with EDEN .   

The PhD Symposium aims at the search of a balance between education and digitalization as well as fostering the exchange of experiences and knowledge among doctoral students doing research in the broad theme area of the Conference. It will provide a discussion forum for the advancement of doctoral research.

 

The Student Symposium will be led by a panel of international experts and supported by the community of EDEN Fellows.

TARGET GROUP

 

The Symposium is an event for PhD students, postgraduates, undergraduates, doctoral students enrolled in any university, both full-time and part-time as well as their supervisors and already graduated young scholars working in the field of e-learning, educational technology, or IT for education. We encourage you to take this opportunity to network with fellow researchers, discuss your research, and get feedback from international experts and your peers.

 

 

THE AIMS OF THE SYMPOSIUM ARE TO:

  • create a community for intellectual exchange and support among young scholars doing research in the area of e-learning and its support;
  • provide practical (peer) feedback on research topics, specific problems or concerns about students’ research;
  • provide an opportunity to get feedback on research topics, problems and concerns from international experts in e-learning research and experienced supervisors.

 

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS AND PRESENTATIONS

 

The doctoral students and young scholars in the field of e-learning and/or educational technology are encouraged to submit short abstracts to present an overview of their research at the PhD Student Symposium. We invite you to reflect upon how your research may contribute to one of the conference themes.

 

The abstract text should be in English or Russian and contain:

  1. a brief of the state of current research (including research title, research objectives/questions, hypothesis and methodology) and
  2. a problem they would like to address to the symposium participants.

 

To be published in the Conference Proceedings an abstract should meet the author guidelines .

 

PhD students are invited to submit their abstracts before 05 May, 2020 midnight CEST together with their registration at the conference site. 

 

The authors are also recommended to prepare a short presentation (up to 10 slides) for the symposium. 

Registration without providing material on the conference website is before May 25, 2020 midnight CEST.

THE PHD STUDENT SYMPOSIUM PROGRAMME

 

The program of the symposium will be made up of accepted applications for presentation and will be published after Мay 25, 2020. 

During the symposium, young scholars will be given the opportunity to make a short presentation (no more than 10 minutes) using from 5 to 10 slides, which may include 1 or 2 questions for the group of experts and other participants. At the end of each speech, a group discussion will take place, approximately for 15-20 minutes, to comment, discuss the raised questions and/or offer research advice.

The speakers will receive a certificate of participation in the symposium. It is also possible to participation in the seminar without a speech/presentation.

 

REGISTRATION FEE

Young scholars who wish to attend both the International Conference (June,1-3) and the symposium (June, 4-5) will have to pay a full registration fee of 450 Euros. 

The fee for participation only in the symposium is 150 Euros. Registration on the conference website is required in both cases.

WORKING LANGUAGES of the symposium: English and Russian.
